Long-Range Planning
Looks like I need to plan a lengthy vacation for sometime in May of 2015.
The National Rifle Association is coming to Nashville in May 2015 in what is expected to be the largest single convention this city has ever hosted, Mayor Karl Dean announced today.
...
The city beat out Philadelphia, Dallas, Kansas City and Louisville for the gathering, which is expected to draw more than 50,000 convention-goers and fill between 5,000 and 6,000 hotel rooms, according to Butch Spyridon, president of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau.

You're always welcome to visit Chicago, Don, the city that banned handguns entirely until the Supreme Court said we couldn't anymore.

Wow! I feel incredibly conflicted about this. On the one hand, massive amounts of money are going to be pumped into the local economy of the city I love. On the other, a lot of right-wing/libertarian/tea-bagger types are going to be invading the city I love. Well, as long as the people go home and their money stays ...

Also, I'm wondering, will the demographic of an NRA convention really be that much different than that of Fan Fair (or whatever the hell they call it now).

Regardless, don't think I'll be venturing downtown that week.

It was definitely a plus that they will be able to carry their firearms with them into the bars. I'd stay away from the downtown bars during that period.
