Has anyone had horrendous experiences in other countries to counter these happy stories? Not having any direct experience myself, it's hard to have an informed opinion. On this point, though, I definitely agree: if we were starting a health care system from scratch and wanted it to be efficient, and make sense, we wouldn't come anywhere near the mess we have now.
